The meaning of Sustainable Development :

Sustainable development is an organizational principle to meet the goals and needs of human development without undermining the integrity and stability of the natural system. Its focus has shifted more to economic development, social development, and environmental protection for future generations.

Definition:

In April 27, 1987, The World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED) issues its report, Our Common Future, identified as well as the Brundtland Report, after the commission's chair, then-Norwegian Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland. Amongst its several central aspects is the definition of Sustainable Development (SD) that is the considerable regularly recited definition and continues to drive succeed in this area nowadays: "Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

Pillars of sustainable development:

As a creative and forward-thinking development model, SD highlights an optimistic revolution route built basically on social, economic, and environmental aspects. The three main subjects of (SD) are economic growth, environmental protection, and social equality. Accordingly, it can be said that the idea of SD lays, essentially, on three concrete pillars. These pillars are:

- Economic sustainability
- Environmental sustainability
- Social sustainability


Economic sustainability: Economic sustainability means a production`s system that suits current levels of consumption without negatively affecting yet to come needs

Social sustainability: Social sustainability includes concepts of empowerment, equity, accessibility, cultural identity, institutional stability, and participation.

Environmental sustainability: The concept of environmental sustainability is about the natural environment and how it remains productive and resilient to support human life.
